Hi, you can search books by author as well
Open the book window -> authors tab. Near the Authors field there is a button "A" for searching books by author

What I want to do is when I use my internet connection to obtain book details from amazon etc to add to my library I have a choice of inputing the ISBN number or the book title - is there a way of searching by Author as I have a number of books to add by the same author this would mean that I could look at the internet search results for a particular Author and add the books needed rather than search for each book individually?
I can't wait for the lrf. search to be included in the program as it is taking me ages to manually imput the books I already have - do we really have to wait until June 2010?
Pam, thank for the suggestion - we will consider it for one of the next upgrades. The problem with mass book update from the internet is that some book sites may ban the requests that come too frequently. So we need to balance between automation and book site requirements.
re lrf support - it will be available in the next version in January
