opds seems to have broken in last version

Several of my ebook readers (android) can no longer read the opds data from AEB. The are ok with calibre opds server so it looks like that AEB is the area to look at. All seemed okay in the first version 6 I had. - now on 6.0.0.2

specifically I like to use pocket ebook

Hi,
The OPDS IP-address was changed.
In previous version it was like http://198.168.1.65
Now its like http://198.168.1.65/opds

Even with /opds it doesnt work. With opds it brings up the index but wont display inside the letter. I had one ebook that displayed and error saying somethig like java invalid operator but I can't get you that error message to send you just yet.

I use a different port so would that be a problem to the new address? eg http://198.168.1.65:90/opds

Please open the opds server in desktop browser. Does it work or gives error message?

no it works fine in a standard browser just not with some well respected apps developed specifically for ebooks.

Here is what the browser shows after being opened from pocketbook.

Hi, do you mean Pocketbook e-book reading device and its built-in browser?

stupidaccountse...
stupidaccountsecurityyournotthensa's picture

Yes to pocketebooks ebooks reader. However the browser is chrome. pocketbooks reader just says can't open and then passes it to android which asked for open with..... The error I posted is when it passes the url with /opds. when it passes the non-opds url (set from a different network item) then chrome shows the index as normal as I posted previously. The problem with this though is that the downloaded book does not then go the the pocketebook reader's directory so it has to be searched for and moved.

on a separate note (I wrote a long and angry post on this last night as after being blocked from getting in. I felt almost everything to do with your product involved far more work/hasse than needed..( I still do)....but I deleted it after 2nd thoughts and when the frustration had died down).

Your support forum is not user friendly especially for phone or tablet. You will see that my username has changed. That is because your security locked me out and I needed to create a new login to post the error message.

Why do you choose to make it difficult when the need for security on your board is at the lower end of requirements. ie not overly popular/public-intetensive and nothing to do with secrets or finance. Using a 10 figure password is not normal and means that it is not easily remembered. (at least you could SPECIFY that 10 is required in the input which may give us a nudge in the right direction) . Also I understand the need for captcha but not for the long captchas you are requesting. Trying to put them in on a mobile device is difficult. Then to top it all off you ban the username after 5 attempts.

Like I said you are not a bank! This level of cumbersome security is not needed for your type of site. ......just my twopenneth.

Could you try to open the Web Server address (not OPDS) on your device? Does it work?
Also please send us your email to support@alfaebooks.com. We fixed OPDS server and can send you the updated version for testing

We are sorry for the forum security reasons, but spammers will quickly turn it into garbage without these measures, and we will be cleaning the forum every day instead of developing new features
