Plans for Loan feature?

Hello,
I am a very interested would-be customer, but I *must* have the ability to manage loans. If I lend a friend a book, I need to know who has it and when they borrowed it. Are there any plans for implementing this feature? (if so, is there any kind of timeline?)
Thanks in advance!

You could use the custom fields for this purpose. One for the borrower's name, one for the date loaned, and one for the expected return.

That said, added features like tracking loaned books would definitely improve AEM.

A loan feature is really about the only thing *really* preventing this from being a complete home or small organization (daycare, church, etc) library solution. With the server access and the ability to do books and ebooks, and the ability to find/enter LOC and Dewey catalog information, it is a nearly complete solution as it is. If it managed loans, it would enter new territory as a one-of-a-kind software for home library enthusiasts (like me!) and church library enthusiasts (also like me!). I think you'd be surprised by the potential of such an addition.

It would be an accessible version of higher-end, server-hungry library software like Koha and Evergreen, which are a notorious pain to set up.

Thank you for your idea. We'll consider it for next versions
Do you have an example of ideal loan management functionality?

Ideally, each book would have a button that says says something like "Loan." When you press it, you can put in the information of the person who is borrowing the book (Name, e-mail, phone) and set a return "due date" (maybe two weeks out by default). Then there would be a loan menu where you could see an overview of who has your books and which books are overdue. In that menu, you would be able to click the book title or check a box to return the book.

If you wanted to be fancy, each borrower's information would be stored for quick retrieval the next time they borrow a book.

If that feature ever makes it in, not only will I buy a copy for myself and my church, I have several friends and a network of churches who would be interested, and I would feature it on my blog (I mostly do book reviews and theology). I think there's a significant market for a program that does this (and other similar software does - Collectorz Book Collector, for example, implements this well, as does All My Books and eXtreme Books Manager. What all of those softwares lack, though, is the brilliant inclusion of a server, which alfa ebooks has!).

Hi - I've been keeping an eye on this for the next release. I'm curious - is the suggestion for a loan feature one that you're considering seriously for a future release? I completely understand if you don't, but I would like to know since I'm trying to follow the progress. Thanks!

Hi, this feature is in the waiting list. We wait if there will be more interested users, than we'll implement it
